Services and Techniques

When you walk into our office we want you to feel as if you just walked into your own home.  In our clean and professional environment your individual needs are our main concern.  We would like our patients to realize there is more to chiropractic than just treating back pain.  Chiropractic looks at every system in the body and in a natural approach tries to restore each of these systems to its full working potential.  No matter what reason brings you into our office, we are here to help you have the best quality of life possible.

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health.  Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.

Chiropractic care is considered alternative care and is mostly made up of chiropractic adjustments or manipulations.  This treatment is safe, gentle and effective movements of your joints by the chiropractors hands or instrument performed for the purpose of restoring normal position and movement of those joints.  Once these bones or vertebrae are restored to their proper position and normal movement is established, the spinal cord and its nerves are no longer irritated and so can work as they should.  Remember, that the nervous system makes EVERYTHING in your body work, once the spine is simply “in line” and no irritation is on the nerve or spinal cord, the body has the ability to be strong, healthy and if injured…heal.

Rehabilitation is a treatment or treatments designed to facilitate the process of recovery from injury to as normal a condition as possible.  The purpose of rehabilitation is to restore some or all of the patient’s physical capabilities that were lost due to injury.  Each rehabilitation program is tailored to the individual patient’s needs and can include one or more types of therapy.

Physical therapy helps the patient restore the use of muscles, bones, and the nervous system through the use of heat, cold, massage, ultrasound, exercise, and other techniques. It seeks to relieve pain, improve strength and mobility, and train the patient to perform important everyday tasks.

Seldom do damaged spinal discs heal without proper treatment because the discs are constantly under the internal pressure that contributed to the disc problem in the first place.  That’s why state-of-the-art Disc Decompression Therapy using a Disc Decompression Table is a vital treatment option.

Therapy on a Disc Decompression Table creates negative pressure inside the herniated, bulging disc letting it retract naturally, thus relieving disc pressure on spinal nerves.  This usually brings welcome relief from pain.  Reducing pressure in the disc also reinstates the natural transfer of surrounding fluids, nutrients and oxygen into the disc, a phenomenon called “Imbibition”, which is essential for disc health.

Tears in the disc’s wall can now repair themselves while nutrients introduced back into the disc’s nucleus can reverse the disc’s degeneration and its collapse, and restore disc height which relieves pressure on inflamed spinal joints.

Fully clothed, the patient is comfortably positioned on the Disc Decompression Table for a gentle computer-controlled stretching procedure to reduce the disc’s internal pressure.

A typical treatment session consists of approx 25 minutes of decompression followed by 10 to 12 minutes of ice therapy.  The process is painless, it is not uncommon for patients to fall asleep during the treatment.  Most patients feel relief of symptoms as soon as the first couple of treatments.

During the 1950’s EDTA (chelation) was used to treat lead poisoning in employees of battery factories and United States sailors who were responsible for painting ships as paint was leaded. The people who received this agent, which is a synthetic amino acid that works by binding heavy metals and removing them via urine, also had improvements in their circulation.

Heavy metal toxicity, primarily lead, is the only Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved use of EDTA. It is currently being used by integrative physicians for the following conditions: circulatory disorders, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, Alzheimer’s,  macular degeneration, improvements in kidney function, glycosylated blood sugar levels, and inflammatory tissue disorders. It is given in this clinic intravenously. You will be monitored and a healthcare practitioner is always in the clinic.

Chelation has been found to be beneficial to many types of patients: heart disease, plaque in the arteries (hardening), osteoporosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, heavy metal toxicity, circulatory occlusions (peripheral vascular disease), dementia/Alzheimer’s, carotid stenosis, macular degeneration and reduction in cancer mortality (by reducing body iron stores in which correlates with decreased risk of arterial disease and cancer).  Ask about our chelation therapy today!!!

Intravenous (IV) nutritional therapy is a method of delivering vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other vital nutrients to the body directly through the bloodstream. A small intravenous catheter is temporarily placed into a vein, and the nutrients can be administered slowly over a period of time which is dependent upon the nutrients that are used.

IV Nutrition is real medicine, firmly based on medical and scientific evidence. Clinical studies continue to show that IV Nutrient therapy can help in prevention and treatment of a wide variety of diseases and conditions and improve general health and overall wellbeing.

We utilize IV therapy to administer high concentrations of vitamins, minerals, and other natural organic compounds into the bloodstream.  This has the advantage of bypassing the stomach (i.e. oral doses) and getting directly to the cells that require attention in order to correct intracellular nutrient deficiencies.  Nutrients administered by IV are absorbed more rapidly and efficiently, as they do not have to be processed by the body in the same way that oral supplements are.  It is effective in the treatment of conditions ranging from premenstrual syndrome (PMS), headache and fatigue.  It can provide a boost of immune-promoting nutrients to reduce the severity of an infection or prevent it altogether.  It is also excellent for detoxification.

In the world of chiropractic there are many different techniques.  Dr. Ludwell is familiar with a lot of these, but tailors his technique according to your personal needs.  The chiropractic adjustment can be performed by hand or by instrumentation.  Either way the chiropractic adjustment is safe, gentle and effective movements of your joints for the purpose of restoring normal position and movement of those joints.  Before treatment begins, ask Dr. Ludwell about the options available when it comes to choosing the best technique for your condition.

Dr. Ludwell has had extensive training with a technique referred to as Kinesio Taping.  This is a rehabilitative, therapeutic modality based on the body’s own natural healing processes.  Kinesio taping exhibits its efficacy through the activation of the neurological and circulatory systems.  Unlike conventional athletic tape, Kinesio taping aims to give free range of motion in order to allow the body’s muscular system to heal itself bio-mechanically.  This technique is commonly performed on athletes to maintain their peek performance levels but it is great for the non-athlete as well.
